Every kid deserves to celebrate their birthday, but throwing a party isn't easy for every family. To make it a little easier, our team got together earlier this week to pack more than 200 birthday party kits that will be distributed to families in need through our partners at the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound. Thanks to the dozens of Premera team members who donated supplies like cake mix, cards, and balloons and took time out of their days to assemble these kits.

Early detection remains one of the best weapons we have against breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer. Screenings for these cancers can help people access treatments at the early stages of the disease, when they are more effective. Your annual preventive care exam is a great time to talk to your healthcare provider about what cancer screenings may be appropriate for you, and what your options look like for those screenings. Volunteers of America Western Washington celebrated the groundbreaking of their 40,000 square foot Lynnwood Neighborhood Center. Once built, the facility will serve as a cornerstone for social services, community engagement, and empowerment in South Snohomish County Paul Hollie, Head of Social Impact and Health Equity at Premera Blue Cross, spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony to share why Premera is eagerly anticipating the future impact of this resource center. As the first corporate partner to invest in this critical project, Premera has been involved since the beginning, and we can’t wait for the necessary services it will provide to the community. Think people with large, supportive families and friend groups don't need therapy? Think again. A relationship with a therapist or psychologist is fundamentally different from the relationships we have with family and friends. In conversations with a trusted mental health professional, people can bring up questions and concerns about their mental health that may be scary or embarrassing to discuss elsewhere - even with those closest to them. Hear how therapy can be beneficial for people, regardless of their background or level of social support, in our latest collaboration with Maynard Okereke's Hip Hop Science Show. And to learn more about how Premera helps members access the mental health care they need, visit our website today. https://bit.ly/443Qp0O #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #bipocmentalhealth #mentalhealthaccess

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that Black women are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women are. It also shows that 80% of all pregnancy-related deaths are preventable. Issues like this one are why Premera supports the work Blue Cross Blue Shield Association is doing to identify and help to close health equity gaps and ensure that every person gets the care they need. We hope you'll join us in working to build a future for healthcare that is safer for every mother, every baby, and every person. #BlackMaternalHealthWeek #BMHW24
BCBS companies are proud to celebrate Black Maternal Health Week -founded by Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Inc. (BMMA) - and stand with all those who advocate for Black maternal health equity. We won’t rest until every mom and baby go home healthy. These are the steps we’re taking to arrest the maternal health crisis, in collaboration with providers, advocates, policymakers and moms to make every stage of pregnancy equitable and safe for everyone: https://lnkd.in/gtix3PFf #BMHW24

Healthcare inequities have persisted for far too long in the U.S., particularly among people of color. That's why Blue Cross Blue Shield Association has developed a new health equity policy platform, Creating a More Equitable System for the Health of America. This platform lays the foundation for policymakers, community-based organizations, and private enterprises to take action. Together, we can find ways to make care more affordable and accessible, address social drivers of health, recruit a more diverse and representative healthcare workforce, and harness health equity data. We’ve got a roadmap. We hope you'll join us on the journey. Learn more about Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s actionable solutions to healthcare inequities in the new platform, available now: https://lnkd.in/gtix3PFf
