Hosted by the University District, the first interactive event on Tuesday, April 27 from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM features two, nationally-recognized leaders in Energy and Sustainability: Rich Christensen with Itron and Heather Rosentrater with Avista. Students will hear about some amazing advances in energy and sustainability right here in Spokane and will be able to ask questions about promising career paths and other opportunities. Rich has been responsible for research and development for numerous Itron product lines, including software applications, electricity, gas and water meters, and communications modules. Before Itron, Rich was a senior engineer and project lead for Motorola's Government Electronics Group in Scottsdale, Arizona. Heather Rosentrater, Senior VP, Energy Delivery and Shared Services, Avista Corp. – A Gonzaga alum, Heather is responsible for electric and natural gas engineering, operations, and shared services such as fleet, facilities, and supply chain at Avista. Heather has led Avista’s Grid Innovation, Smart Grid, and Smart City efforts, including representing Avista as a founding member of Urbanova, a living laboratory in Spokane, Wash., to design cities for the future. She also has broad experience on both the electric and natural gas sides of Avista Utilities, having managed departments and projects in transmission, distribution and SCADA, as well as asset management.
