All middle and high school students, parents and educators are invited to join us at the Sacred Heart Medical Center Emergency Room Open House where we will be highlighting a number of patient illness and injuries that visit the emergency room. Learn more about careers at the hospital, specifically in the emergency room and supporting roles.

Join the Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center Emergency Department for a unique look at the Emergency Medicine/Emergency Room experience.  The Open House will begin with a rotation involving EMT/Paramedics and ambulance transportation followed by a tour of the SHMC adult and pediatric emergency departments.  

A short walk to the James T. Mounsey Simulation Lab and students will step into a hands-on triage setting utilizing the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) to assess 5 scenarios to learn how emergency departments group patients from most urgent to least urgent for triage care.  After a hands-on experience in each scenario, the open house will conclude with a student discussion on their findings and Q & A with Emergency Department personnel.   

This unique experience highlights a variety of healthcare careers in emergency medicine!
