Light A Lamp
Shining Light Into Lives With A Gift From The Heart
At Light A Lamp, we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting positive mental health and supporting vulnerable groups. Our mission is to create a community where individuals facing mental health challenges, grief, or illness are uplifted through meaningful resources, essential support, and opportunities to connect. We stand beside those struggling with grief, illness, severe anxiety, or depression, providing care packages and connection groups filled with mental health resources, daily necessities, anti-anxiety tools, and comfort items.
Our Programs
Light A Lamp operates three core programs:
Project Lift Up
Project Lift Up is our mental health initiative designed to support youth in local schools through suicide prevention efforts, as well as student volunteer opportunities that build confidence, social skills, and reduce bullying. Volunteers deliver monthly mental health packs to school counseling departments, ensuring that students facing hopelessness receive valuable resources, including journals, hygiene items, healthy snacks, anti-anxiety tools, and inspirational gifts. Each pack also includes mental health hotlines, human trafficking prevention information, and a voucher for food or drink. Additionally, the program promotes a "kindness mission," where ASB students and staff recognize acts of kindness within their schools.
Project Lift Up serves 22 schools across Mead, Spokane, Spokane Valley, Medical Lake, Tekoa, and Reardan school districts. Sponsorship from individuals or businesses, at $2,500 per school, covers an entire school year.
Hope & Healing Baskets
This program provides comfort and encouragement to individuals facing serious illness, grief, or personal hardship, while recognizing their strength during difficult times. In partnership with the Spokane Police Department Chaplaincy, Light A Lamp delivers customized care packages designed to uplift individuals in need. We also honor those who inspire others through kindness, resilience, and service by offering recognition gift baskets, fostering strength, gratitude, and compassion within our community.
Community Outreach
Light A Lamp serves those in assisted living homes at various times throughout the year, including holidays, delivering encouragement and joy to residents. In collaboration with local schools and youth groups, we provide opportunities for young people to participate in these deliveries, teaching the joy of volunteerism through activities like card writing and hands-on projects. Our team also responds to other community needs, serving meals, offering support, and spreading hope—wherever there's a need, we are there to help.
Our Commitment
At Light A Lamp, we believe in filling the gaps so that no one feels alone in their struggles. Our vision is to see kindness and compassion uplift every individual, with communities coming together to inspire inner strength, prevent self-harm, and create a brighter future for all.
